In a significant development, Hon. Henry Wilson Ifediora (Mbuze Oba), a major stakeholder of the Labour Party in Idemili South Local Government Area, has defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reelection bid.
The event, which took place on Saturday, was attended by notable stakeholders, key APGA officials, and government functionaries. The APGA State Assistant Treasurer, RT Hon. Uche Mmaduekwe, noted that the essence of the event was to officially welcome and induct Hon. Henry Wilson Ifediora as a bonafide member of APGA.
Hon. Kezito Anoliefo, Chairman of APGA in Idemili South, commended Hon. Henry Wilson Ifediora for his resolve to join APGA, stating that his defection would bring a remarkable impact to Oba APGA politics.
A chieftain of APGA, Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu, expressed optimism that the two estates in Oba Town could pull up to 20,000 to 30,000 votes for Soludo come November 8. He added that giving a bulk of votes for Soludo would bring infrastructural development to Oba Town and Idemili South.
The Mayor of Idemili South, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi, appealed to Oba stakeholders and residents to support Governor Soludo’s reelection, lamenting the petty attitude of some political jobbers who failed to support Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu in the last House of Representatives Election.
In his appreciation message, Hon. Henry Wilson Ifediora expressed satisfaction with his decision to join APGA, stating that he is above money politics and is committed to the party. He commended Governor Soludo for his giant strides since assuming office, quoting the Governor’s words: “I’m not a politician, I come to deliver Anambra people.”
The event drew the presence of other notable stakeholders, including the Chairman/CEO Chibon Hotel, President General of Oba Town, Engr. Uzo Ejiofor, and APGA officials and Executive Members of Oba ward 1 & 2, Women Initiative For Greater Anambra (WIGA), and United City Residents Oba Airport.
