Security Forces Engage IPOB In Heavy Gunfire In Imo

Reports reaching us from Orlu in Imo state say there have been sporadic shooting in Ugbele- Umuaka, in Orlu area of the state

A resident of the area Durogbo Vincent, in a text message to Ekweanaedo News said the shooting which started around 5am continued until 8am on Sunday morning.

He said a combined team of Ebubeagu, the police and military stormed hideouts of suspected IPOB members in the area who in turn engage the security operatives in a fierce shootout lasting several hours.

The exchange of gunfire left many residents of the area terrified with many looking for safe spots to hide in their houses as they cannot leave their houses for fear of being shot at or mistaken for an IPOB member

There are no reports of any casualty.

Off- Cycle election will hold on Saturday November 11 in Imo state as residents vote in the governor ship election . Ahead of the election the nation’s military and police heirarchy have assured of a violence free exercise. To this end, it has deployed it’s officers to the three states were elections are sheduled to take place.

This morning”s exercise in Imo state is aimed at dislodging the group ahead of election on Saturday and also assure the voting public of their safety before, during and after the polls.
