In line with his vision of fostering a peaceful and united Plateau State, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has called on Christians and Muslims to sustain the culture of peaceful coexistence for the growth and development of the nation.

The Governor made the appeal on Sunday during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of ECWA Gospel Church, Lemu Road, Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna State. The event, held under the theme “50 Years of Sustaining the Vision of Our Fathers” (Habakkuk 2:1-3), celebrated the church’s remarkable journey of resilience and service.

Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life, strength, and the honor to be part of the inspiring story of the church. He commended the church for enduring numerous challenges, including brutal attacks, through its steadfast commitment to fostering harmony with the host community.

He further praised the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his critical role in promoting harmonious living between Christians and Muslims in Kaduna state. Governor Mutfwang explained that this culture of peace and understanding mirrors the cornerstone of his own administration’s efforts in Plateau State.

Reflecting on the church’s 50-year journey, Governor Mutfwang shared a personal connection, recalling that Pastor Sule of the church baptized him during his time at the University of Jos. He also relived his privilege of preaching in the church when he relocated to Kaduna in the 1990s.

He described ECWA Gospel Church as a resilient institution, committed to spreading the gospel of salvation, and lauded its ability to endure and thrive during periods of crisis.

Governor Mutfwang, urged the people of Northern Nigeria to reject divisive tendencies and religious manipulation. Instead, he called for collective efforts to overcome poverty and foster regional growth and development.

Reverend Gideon Para-Mallam, President of the Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation, also addressed the congregation, encouraging the church to remain steadfast in preaching Christ’s gospel and maintaining peace with the host community.

The Guest Preacher, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Sule, took his reading from Habakkuk 2:1-3 and Matthew 28. His sermon was titled “Sustaining Obedience to the Vision of the Founding Fathers.”

He emphasized that while human circumstances may change, the Word of God remains unchanging and a steadfast moral compass for Christians.

Rev. Dr. Sule reiterated that the church’s mission is to preach the Word of God and lead many souls to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Earlier, Governor Mutfwang worshipped at the Chapel of Goodnews, Kaduna State, where he emphasized the importance of continued preaching of the gospel of Christ and Bible study. He stressed the need to equip the younger generation with the Word of God as a guide for life.
