In a bid to reduce infant mortality rate in Nnewi, Anambrab state, the Rotary Club Of Nnewi Urban, Zone 17 Anambra State in Rotary district 9142 under the leadership of Rotarian Valentine Chukwuebuka Okafor,, on Monday 13th November 2023 carried out a ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of the ultra modern Maternal and Child Health Center in Nnewi.
Earlier on arrival, the team of Rotarians led by the Club President Rotarian Valentine Okafor and the Club Charter President Rotarian Prince Charles Obi Orizu were received by the community leaders led by President General of the community, Comrade Chibunna Okeke.
Speaking briefly to the community leaders, Rotarian Obi Orizu thanked them for the role they played in providing the land for this legacy project which will benefits every member of the community and other neighbouring villages.
Similarly the Assistant Governor Zone 17, Rotarian Kenechukwu Udechukwu also appreciated the community and members of the Rotary family for answering to this call to serve humanity, in his words this project shall bring light and more health to the people of this community.
Speakers upon speakers from the community took turns to eulogize the Rotary Club for such a blessing to their community.

Some of the Rotarians present at the event includes Past Presidents Tony Muodielo and Chikwado Ejimbe, Rotarians Dozie Chukwulobe, Chigozie Nnoruka, Chukwuma Onwuatuelo, PE James Obiora, President Ifeanyi Ukatu (President RC Oraifite), Rotarian Chibuzo Njideofor (who donated 50 bags of cement for the project) and host of others.
