Omokri criticized the Labour Party’s decision to reject the proposed merger of political parties, particularly in light of the current political landscape.
He emphasized the need for strategic thinking in politics, citing the outcomes of recent elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa.
Omokri expressed concern that a united opposition failed to defeat the All Progressives Congress in 2019, suggesting that a similar strategy might not succeed in 2023 and 2027.
He thereby urged parties to learn from history, pointing out that coalitions or mergers have historically been instrumental in challenging existing power structures.
Specifically addressing Peter Obi, Omokri asserted that any party featuring him as a candidate would likely face defeat. He referenced a leaked audio, which he claimed had irreversibly damaged Obi’s political career at the federal level.
Additionally, he highlighted Obi’s comments on religious matters, cautioning that these sentiments might not be easily forgotten by core Northern Muslims.
Omokri drew attention to the religious demographics in the country, noting that the 2023 election results indicated a higher Muslim population.
He further advised the Labour Party to consider the potential consequences of not aligning with larger demographics, warning that they might inadvertently aid the All Progressives Congress by dividing opposition votes in 2027.
