The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Engr. Okechukwu Okafor, over the weekend, took his ongoing message of hope, reform, and organizational rebirth to the Ogbaru District, where he challenged staff to embrace integrity, continuous self-development, professionalism, and dedication to service.

Speaking during the engagement held at the District Headquarters in Ogbaru, the FirstPower Boss reminded the workers that although the company inherited difficult realities, the Management has shown commitment to building a modern, efficient, and respected electricity distribution company.

According to him, FirstPower may be less than one year old as an independent entity, but the company already carries a strong vision of transformation anchored on accountability, innovation, discipline, and excellence.
He consequently urged the staff to allow present realities to motivate them towards becoming better professionals and better individuals.

The MD stressed the importance of constant learning and personal growth, warning that workers who fail to improve themselves risk becoming obsolete in a rapidly changing world.
“If you stop developing yourself, you cannot continue adding value to your company; and one day, you may no longer remain relevant,” he cautioned.

Engr. Okafor also urged staff to avoid indulging in any form of corruption, criminality, sharp practices, and every form of compromise that may bring a dent to the reputation and integrity of the organization, insisting that success and survival are still possible through honesty, diligence, and ethical conduct. He rather urged the workers to do their work with passion and every sense of commitment, to build a company that everyone would be proud of.
“It is possible to survive without criminality. Let us build a company that all of us can be proud of,” he stated.
Speaking further, he encouraged workers to treat customers with respect and professionalism irrespective of their social or economic status, noting that quality customer relations remain vital to restoring and enhancing public trust in the company and the power sector at large.
The MD also described leadership as a force that must challenge mediocrity, inspire accountability, and confront unhealthy work habits, while emphasizing that every worker has a role to play in repositioning the company for future growth.

He added that management’s long-term vision includes modernizing infrastructure, embracing technology, empowering staff, and building a culture of excellence capable of transforming FirstPower into a competitive and reliable electricity company.
The session also featured remarks from the Head of the Connection Management Group (CMG), Mrs. Maureen Chinwe Okoye; the Head of Safety, Mr. Tosin Fadairo; and the Head of Audit, Mr. Ezekiel Ogbonnaya, who reinforced the MD’s message from the perspectives of ethical conduct, safety consciousness, accountability, and improved service delivery.
