The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has commenced the distribution of 2 million naira each to beneficiaries of his skill acquisition empowerment scheme.
In a statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Leo Ekene Oketa, he emphasized that the scheme is geared towards empowering 1500 Ebonyians who are doing menial jobs in various cities across the nation with skill acquisition and the sum of N2,000,000 each.
He further said that the empowerment is happening in 3 batches of 500 persons each.
The first batch of the 500 has been trained on various vocational and technical skills. They have started receiving their alerts for N2m each.
The funds are being disbursed by Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency. This is an agency established by Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Law 004 of 2023.
The agency is meant to ensure transparency of the scheme, mentoring and monitoring of the progress of the business set up by the beneficiaries. They are equally a World Bank recognized agency in the State.
