The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended security agencies in the state for their improved coordination and unrelenting efforts in enhancing public safety and maintaining law and order in the state.

The commendation, which came in the wake of two high-profile events in the state — the successful hosting of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Awka on Thursday and the hitch-free conduct of dignitaries’ and stakeholders’ weddings recently in Ihiala — was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, May 8, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

According to the statement, CP Orutugu expressed delight over the seamless security arrangements witnessed across the state during the period, and attributed the success to the strengthened inter-agency synergy and the proactive strategies adopted by the Police and other security formations.

He noted that the hosting of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the state capital was peaceful and incident-free, just like the well-attended weddings in Ihiala, which equally had many top personalities in attendance.

The Police Commissioner also appreciated Ndi Anambra for their continued support and cooperation with security agencies, emphasizing that their trust and collaboration remain a key factor in achieving a safer Anambra.

He further affirmed that the peaceful conduct of both events is a clear indication that the state remains safe, secure, and well-policed, even as he assured the public of the Command’s commitment to sustaining that tempo and the airtight security in the state.

Highlighting the presence of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Ben Nebolisa Okolo, fdc, who represented the Inspector-General of Police during the President’s visit, the Commissioner described the development as a proof of the national importance of the event and the strategic relevance of the state.

“Prioritizing security coordination and collaboration is a proactive approach to addressing security concerns and promoting a safer, more secure environment for all,” the Commissioner emphasized.

The Command, through the statement, further reassured the citizens that it would continue to deploy intelligence-driven operations and community engagement as tools for maintaining the prevailing peace across the state.
