The ongoing reconstitution of the Anambra State Executive Council has gathered a fresh momentum as Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo transmitted another batch of commissioner nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation

This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Tuesday May 5 by Franklin Osakwa of the Office of the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, and which revealed that the list was formally transmitted to the House during plenary.

According to the statement, the Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, received the nominees on behalf of the legislature and subsequently referred them to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for necessary legislative action.

Although, the press statement referred to the commissioner nominees as first batch of 18 nominees, it would be recalled that the Governor had earlier, on March 23, 2026, announced the appointments of Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, and Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor as Commissioners for Justice and Finance respectively, alongside Special Advisers and other key appointees.

The two commissioner nominees, alongside other appointees, were subsequently confirmed by the House on March 24. Hence the latest list could be rightly referred to as the second batch, with 16 commissioner nominees, since Nweke and Okafor had earlier been nominated and confirmed as commissioners.

The latest nominees were similarly assigned to various strategic ministries across the state. They include: Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemena (Agriculture), Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye (Budget and Economic Planning), Mr. Udoji Amedu (Culture, Entertainment and Tourism), and Dr. Ekene Ogugua (Education).

Also included in the list are: Dr. Clem Aguiyi (Environment), Dr. Afam Obidike (Health), Dr. Law Mefor (Information and Value Reformation), Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands), Barr. Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs), Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources), and Barr. Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development).

Others include: Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu (Power), Arc. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure), Hon. Eddy Ibuzo (Transport), Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development), and Mr. Patrick Agha (Youth Development and Sports).

The House is expected to commence the screening of the nominees in the coming days, after which successful candidates will be confirmed and sworn into office as members of the State Executive Council.
