The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR has charged citizens to use the yuletide to reach out to the poor and needy in the society in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ and the slogan of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, “onye aghana nwanne ya”.
Governor Soludo made the call at the 2024 festival of Christmas Carols and nine lessons organized by All Saints Choir at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Unizik Tempsite, Awka.
Speaking to the parishioners briefly after taking the first lesson, Governor Soludo represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi thanked God for the gift of Jesus Christ and prayed that the Christmas celebration will foster peace, unity, and love among Ndi Anambra.
“Christmas is a season of love, hence need for Christians to celebrate in a way that it depicts Christ, committing to the true ideals of Christmas and to see the celebration as an opportunity to share and exhibit love for one another,” the Governor said.
Earlier, the Chairman on the occasion and former Commissioner for Information, Culture Tourism, Chief Maja Umeh, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Engr. Victor Meju thanked Governor Soludo for honouring their invitation and urged Christian faithful to emulate Christ’s life of humility, love, and true devotion.
The festival was well attended by top government officials including, the State Accountant General, Dr. Chukwudi Okoli, The Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofoedeme, represented by Mr Ikedi Amechi, Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Akoma represented by Engr. Chidi Obiudu, the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Awka, Dr. Josephat Akabuike, the Parish Choir Patron, Professor Emma Onwubuya, and many other lovers of carols, classic music, and orchestra.
