Students in South East Federal and state tertiary institutions are now to assess the Nigeria Education Loan Fund.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement, South East, Mrs Chioma Nweze made this known during a South East Citizens Assembly, held at ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
Addressing students selected from all the tertiary institutions in the state, Mrs Nweze said it is high time Ndi Igbo began to enjoy palliatives provided by President Tinubu to alleviate the sufferings of the citizens of the country due to removal of fuel subsidy.
Mrs Nweze said that the Nigeria Education Loan Fund and other lofty programmes including agricultural and business loans for students and every Nigerian have kicked off and said that she discovered that students from South East states have not started enjoying the loan which was why she decided to hold the sensitization in all the South East states.
Receiving the Presidential Aide, Governor Chukwuma Soludo called on students in state and federal institutions in the state to utilize the opportunity to complete their education, urging those who have intention to enroll into tertiary institutions but are restrained because of lack of funds to also utilize the opportunity.
Governor Soludo represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to Anambra state government, Sir Nwabufo Nwankwo while appreciating President Tinubu for all his lofty programmes to alleviate poverty which he said is in line with the free education policy of his government added that with the loan by the federal government, no child will be left behind.
Speaking earlier, the Head Information Technology, NELFUND, Mr Wale Ogunleye, tutored the students on the processes involved in the registration saying that the scheme has two areas, payment of school fees and monthly stipend to students, though that of stipend is optional.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Carol Arinze-Umeobi represented by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Dr Emma Ojukwu while welcoming Mrs Nweze thanked President Tinubu for appointing an Igbo daughter into such a high position and for the initiative, urging her to continue to represent the Igbo even as he pledged their support to her.
