The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim alongside Anambra State Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu and other government officials earlier today received House of Representatives Committee on Army at Awka, Anambra State.

While welcoming them on behalf of Governor Charles Soludo, Dr. Ibezim said, when Governor Soludo took the mantle of leadership, they met a terrible situation in the state but today Anambra has been liberated to a large extent from the hands of these people.

He commended the military, police force and other security agencies for their sacrifices toward the progress of the state, stating that, Anambra State recognized that they are bread winners of their families.

Dr. Ibezi said, Anambra State Government has a structured way of integrating the people into a larger society, so much training, empowerment programmes, adding that for the past 32 years Anambra state was created, we don’t have a dedicated government house but soon, we will have a new government house and that is the face of the state.

Mr. Deputy Governor noted that, Governor Soludo’s administration started by employing 5, 000 teachers and there was a unique thing in the employment, saying that state of origin was not a factor because Governor Soludo wanted the best.

Dr. Ibezim noted that, it was also what Mr. Governor did in empowerment structure like 1Youth 2Skills, where Governor Soludo doled out more than 2billion after their training to start their businesses and they passed the second phase in the last council meeting and also, they are working in other sectors because they are not playing lip service.

Earlier on, the deputy chairman of the House committee on Army, Hon. David Ogewu said, as the culture demands and tradition required, whenever they go out for oversight function which is the primary objective according to constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, they pay the Chief Security Officer in charge of that state a courtesy call to intimate him of their visit, saying that, they are in Anambra State for oversight function, to see the wellbeing of the military, some of their ongoing projects and what is needed to be done.

He appreciated Anambra State Government for supporting the military, pleaded for continuous support until the insecurity is no more.
