EEDC Warns Customers: No Charges for Meter Upgrade, Report Extortion Attempts

Sharing is caring

According to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC), they have received reports of unidentified individuals trying to extort money from customers for meter upgrades.

However, the EEDC wants to make it clear that this is not their policy and is completely unacceptable. They want customers to know that the prepaid meter upgrade is free of charge.

Customers are advised to ignore any requests for payment regarding meter upgrades. If anyone asks for money, it should be reported to the EEDC through their Whistle Blowing line at 08146026678.

To have their meters upgraded, customers simply need to purchase tokens, which come with Key Change Tokens (KCTs) required for the upgrade.

These tokens consist of three sets of 20 digits that customers can input into their meters. After entering the first 20 digits, they should press the “enter” button, and repeat the process for the second and third sets of digits.
