At least one person was confirmed dead in an accident involving a Truck and a motorcycle
The incident which happened On Wednesday 20th Dec 2023, along Umunze-Ekwulobia road in Anambra State also left one person injured
An eye witness said, the truck rammed into a tipper and motorcycle killing the rider of the motorcycle instantly
Confirming the crash, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Adeoye Irelewuyi said the deceased was taken to Ajalli General hospital, Ajalli by FRSC rescue team from RS5.37 Umunze Unit Command.
He however, console with the deceased family, advising motorist to regularly service their vehicles to minimum safety standard before plying the road especially during the festive period
He said, “A fatal road traffic crash was recorded today 20th December, 2023 at few kilometers before Amaokpala village by Umunze-Ekwulobia road.
“Vehicles involved were
A commercial Mercedes Benz tipper with registration number; XA554AGU
A commercial Mack Trailer, with registration number; AKL876XP.
A commercial Motorcycle with no registration number.
“We were liable informed that the cause of the crash was as a result of break failure.
“Four male adults were involved in the crash. Injured Non; killed 1 male adult (the bike rider). 3 male adults were rescued unhurt.
The victim was taken to Ajalli General hospital, Ajalli by FRSC rescue team from RS5.37 Umunze Unit Command.
“The rescue team are on ground managing traffic and ensuring obstruction caused by the crash is cleared.”
