Former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has praised his former colleague and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a “man of conviction, character, and courage.” In a birthday message delivered through his spokesperson, Onyebuchi Ememanka, Ikpeazu lauded Wike’s commitment to democracy and fundamental freedoms. “One thing that clearly defines the persona of Nyesom Wike is that he is a fearless and uncompromising advocate of democracy and the fundamental freedoms that come with it,” the message stated. Ikpeazu further commented Wike’s role in promoting positive change and democratic values within Nigeria. “Wike has carved a niche for himself as a strong and fearless advocate of democratic ethos in Nigeria and an agent of positive change,” he added.
Recall that prior to the general elections, a group of governors christened G5, which had Ikpeazu, Wike, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Seyi Makinde, all PDP governors as members, disagreed with the party leadership. While Ortom, Ikpeazu, Wike, and Ugwuanyi have concluded their gubernatorial terms, Makinde secured a second term in Oyo State. Ortom, Ugwuanyi, and Ikpeazu all lost their bids for senatorial seats in February’s elections. However, Wike was thereafter appointed as FCT Minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
