Engr Julius Mmelikam Chukwuemeka, The Commissioner For Power And Water Resources, has said that the solution government under Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, would establish Anambra Electricity Market, next year.
The Commissioner, make this known to newsmen yesterday, after the ministry went for the budget defense at the State House of Assembly Complex, Awka.
Hon Chukwuemeka, stated that with the 2023 Electricity Act which empowers every state government to legislate on their powers, that the state government has budgeted for Power sector reform where bills and policies to enable the establishment of the electricity market, in the next year’s budget.
“He also revealed, that the electricity market, would enable a solid foundation for private sectors to invest in the state power sector for generation, transmission and distribution of power supply to the people of the state.
The Hon Commissioner also said, that the operation light up Anambra using Solar powered streetlights is continuous and that once the conversion is completed, installation of solar powered streetlights in areas where they’re not existing before now, would commence immediately”, he added.
