There seems to be a new twist in the transfer situation of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen
Club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis was quoted to have said that the Nigerian international is close to signing a new two-year contract at the club.
De Laurentiis told reporters at a ceremony that talks with Osimhen over a new contract is already at an advanced stage.
“For Osimhen we are at the signing stage which had been pending since the summer,” De Laurentiis said.
There were reports of Chelsea being interested in bringing Osimhen to the premier league
It however remains to be seen if his move to Chelsea or any other club would materialise
The Nigeria international has one and a half years on his current contract with the Serie A champions.
The new contract will see him commit his future to Napoli until 2027.
The 24-year-old played a key role in Napoli’s title success last season, but saw his relationship soured with the club after they uploaded a video to their TikTok page that mocked him
Osimhen has scored six goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for the Italian side this season.
