Recognition has continued to trail the public service and community development efforts of Amb. Ikebunwa Lotanna, as the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Umudim, Nnewi, honoured him with an award as “The Voice of the Voiceless.”
The award, presented by the women’s body of the church, recognises Ikebunwa’s contributions to community service, support for vulnerable persons and commitment to human capital development.
The plaque, which bears the inscription “The Voice of the Voiceless,” highlights his role in speaking up for the less privileged and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people in the community.
In recent years, Ikebunwa has been associated with scholarship schemes, support for small businesses and startups, youth empowerment programmes and assistance to vulnerable individuals and families.
His interventions have extended across Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Local Government Areas, as well as other parts of Anambra State.
Through educational support, business assistance and other humanitarian interventions, he has continued to place emphasis on creating opportunities and helping people improve their living conditions.
Observers say such interventions often make direct impacts on individuals and families, whether by helping students remain in school, supporting entrepreneurs to sustain their businesses or providing relief to vulnerable persons during difficult times.
The church recognition comes barely weeks after the Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association honoured Ikebunwa with the Polytechnic Star Award and inducted him into the Oko Polymath Hall of Fame during the institution’s 40th anniversary celebration held on September 26, 2026.
Unlike the Oko honours, which focused largely on his professional achievements and contributions in different fields, the CWO award places greater emphasis on his relationship with people, particularly the poor and vulnerable.
Amb. Ikebunwa’s journey has taken him through engineering, entrepreneurship, education, real estate, politics and philanthropy.
He previously contested the House of Representatives primary for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency under the platform of the NDC.
Following that experience, he has continued to devote considerable attention to human capital and community development through scholarships, business support and humanitarian interventions.
For Ikebunwa, being recognised as “The Voice of the Voiceless” goes beyond receiving a plaque. It reflects a responsibility rooted in compassion, advocacy, empowerment and service to humanity.
Presented by the Catholic Women Organisation of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Umudim, Nnewi, the honour has now become another chapter in his growing record of community service and public engagement.
