The social media space has been agog with a video and an accompanying report alleging that an apprentice in Anambra State turned to a python.
The video, which started trending on Tuesday showed some traders and spectators who gathered at the alleged scene in Nkpor-Agu (Mgbuka) in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state where the incident allegedly happened.
The viral video has also attracted a handful of reactions from social media users who share their views on the alleged incident.
According to a voiceover from the recorder of the video who was present at the scene, the incident involved a young boy identified by his nickname as Zakikpor, who is an apprentice at the market.
The video recorder alleged that Zakikpor was asked by his master to give account of his sales and other business transactions he recorded in his shop.
However, in an attempt to evade the account presentation, Zakikpor reportedly, turned to a python.
“Happening live in Nkpor-Agu (Mgbuka). Nwa boị ghọ̀rọ̀ eke… Ọga ya sị ya mee account, o wee ghọ̀ọ́ eke…,” the video recorder stated in Igbo language, which translates “Happening live in Nkpor-Agu (Mgbuka). An apprentice turned to a python. His master requested him to give an account, and he turned to a python.”
The viral video also shows a large python restlessly crawling around and searching for a safe hiding place inside a skeletal body of an abandoned vehicle, while people around chase after it with sticks.
The dramatic scene in the video continued until the python eventually crawled into the engine part of the vehicle, consequently making its attackers to retreat and sheathe their swords, as it became very difficult for them to see or bring it out without opening the engine.
Although the authenticity of the video, the alleged incident, and the identities of the people involved could not be established or ratified as at the time of this publication, the video has continued to generate a chain of reactions and counter-reactions on social media as netizens express their views and seek further clarifications on the alleged incident.
