The electoral battle between the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA and the All Progressives Congress aged of Anambra gubernatorial election deepened yesterday following the media clash among the two political parties over dismissal of the APGA Media Warriors that the Running Mate of the APC Sen Uche Ekwunife would not make a good Deputy Governor when elected.
Apparently angered by the submissions of APGA the media team of the APC has described that the claims are not only baseless but unbecoming of the party in an era of decent politicking adding that it smacks of actions that do not speak well of the spirit of sportsmanship.
According to the statement by the Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe;
“In all honesty, a rotten character and a disgrace to motherhood in the person of Sen. Uche Ekwunife that is Ukachukwu Deputy does not have the moral justification to mobilise Anambra women to tell them to vote for the dead on conception Ukachukwu/Ekwunife joint ticket”
“So for her to come and be telling Anambra women to vote for the dead on arrival Ukachukwu/ Ekwunife ticket is tantamount to telling them to make a suicidal mistake”
“Our women are wiser and am confident that they will throw her senseless and useless advice to the waste bin because that is where it rightly belongs”he said.
In a sharp response to the position of APGA the Media Assistant to Ekwunife Mr Tony Ezike contended that;
“The smear campaign, first pushed by anonymous social media accounts and now openly championed by Soludo’s media aide, Chinedu Obigwe, reflects an alarming trend of political suppression. Obigwe’s most recent comments, in which he labeled Senator Ekwunife’s lawful campaign activities as criminal, illustrate an attitude that is not only undemocratic but deeply troubling”
“It is deeply concerning that a routine and legal effort to mobilize voters, particularly women, for her party, the APC, could be framed as a criminal act. In any functioning democracy, encouraging citizens to vote is not only permitted, it is encouraged. Redefining such civic engagement as wrongdoing is both absurd and dangerous”
“This pattern of behavior, defamation, harassment, and public ridicule, appears to have the silent blessing of Governor Soludo, whose refusal to speak against these actions gives the impression of complicity. For someone who holds academic and leadership credentials, this silence is both disappointing and inappropriate”
“Rather than engaging in meaningful debate or defending his record, Governor Soludo’s camp has chosen to degrade the public space with personal insults and smear tactics. One must ask: would the governor tolerate such treatment if it were directed at his wife, mother, or daughter? Why should the dignity of another woman be so casually undermined for political gain?” he noted .
