If it is in the power of the commercial transport unions in Aba to decide who rules Abia State in 2027 Governor Alex Otti is as good as reelected.
Addressing the two million man solidarity march for Otti in Aba, the State President of Cooperative Motor Union, Abia State, Mr. Chukwuma Azode aka China, declared the unalloyed support of the motor unions and all transport operators warning that any opposition challenging Governor Otti in 2027 governorship election is taking risk.
According to the union leader, the unprecedented achievements of Governor Otti, has earned him automatic reelection and expressed confidence that no sensible politician would challenge him.
“From what we are seeing, I don’t think any sensible person should involve himself in anything concerning elections, because from what we are seeing, His Excellency is supposed to enjoy his eight years.
“So, for now, any opposition that is coming out is taking a very big risk, because we, Abians are in support of His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti for now, and no other person. And all the motor unions in Abia State are also endorsing His Excellency for 2027. That’s the part of our gathering here today.
“This gathering, this Million March is not political. It’s non-political, and I believe that there is a lot of people that love His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, that are here, and most of them are from different political backgrounds. So, what we are doing is non-political, but they are here as lovers of Dr. Alex Otti based on his good works in Abia State.
“We are here to show solidarity to His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti to celebrate all his good works in Abia State. Within an interval of two years in office, he has shown a great capacity.
“So, that is the reason why we are gathering here to celebrate him. We have a lot of people residing in Aba, and Aba, to start with, is a place that His Excellency has promised that he’s going to develop more, so that we will now get more investors coming in to invest,” Azode maintained.
Also, the state Chairman of Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, ASTOPU comrade Victor Azubuike said the rally was organised to appreciate the smooth movement in Abia especially Aba as the transporters were the greatest beneficiaries of the road infrastructure of the Governor.
In an interview, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on transportation, Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe said that the transport operators have reasons to celebrate Governor Alex Otti based on the transformational projects and appreciated the good job Governor Otti has done in the area of road infrastructure.
The Two-Million Man March which took off from Osisioma Junction through Aba-Owerri road down to Asa road Aba saw jubilant Aba residents celebrating in grand style across the streets and roads of the city.
