Minister of Works Engr David Umahi, has urged citizens of South-East geo-political zone, to embrace national re-integration and cohesive engagement with the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 general election.
Umahi gave the admonition at the wéekend in Abakaliki, on the occasion of Sallah celebration he organized for muslim community in Ebonyi State.
He enjoined the people to reject divisive narratives and focus instead on constructive engagement with the federal government.
“The South-East must count one before counting two, we need reintegration not isolation, President Tinubu has started this process, we must not waste the opportunity,” he said.
He commended President Tinubu for its policy of religious and ethnic inclusiveness stating that it has reached an excellent level.

“The relationship between faiths in Nigeria is much better now, it surprised many Christians when the President led a Nigerian delegation to the Pope’s inauguration, that was very unique and historic”
Speaking against the backdrop of infrastructural development of the federal government, Umahi extolled President Tinubu for reversing years of neglect in the South-East zone.
“Before now, many South-East States had no federal projects, today the federal presence is visible across the region, that is true national integration,” Umahi reiterated.
He applauded the President for reintegrating the region into national governance with the appointment of persons of South-East extraction to top position including himself as Minister of Works, Rear Admiral Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and the Minister of Science and Technology respectively.
“We lost political ground in the past, but this government is bringing us back, its not yet perfect, we are no longer left behind, we must acknowledge that and support the President,”
Earlier in a remark, the Leader of muslim community in Ebonyi State Alhaji Danjuma Gambo, lauded Umahi peaceful disposition to muslim faithfuls.
He pledged the commitment of muslim community towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu come 2027 general election.
