The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi(Iyom Ife-Abata), has commended the courage and resilience of women in the face of cultural and social economics inhibitions.
In a goodwill message to mark 2025 International Women’s Day, Hon. Obi said that some of the challenges militating against women’s emancipation such as widowhood, cultural practices and inability to aspire to certain positions are been addressed by Anambra State Government.
Council Mayor said, administration of Governor Soludo is at the forefront in empowering women politically and economically and have given women more opportunities to occupy political offices which hitherto was not in place.
While stating that many women are Deputy Mayors in the local governments in the state, Hon. Obi added we have a good number of women as political appointees and administration of Governor Soludo has given women leadership role as Idemili South produced the first female local government Mayor in the history of the council secretariat.
