The training of health workers in private hospitals, government and primary healthcare centers across Onitsha North LGA took place at St Mary’s Catholic Church Awka Road, Onitsha.
The 2 days training is a step down training for health workers on Integrated Diease Surveillance and Response (IDSR).
The essence of the training is equip the health workers with the requisite knowledge to identify Epidemic prone diseases, monitor the trend and pattern of the diseases in the communities.
Also analyze and report to the next level for appropriate health action.
The training is done by NCDC and NACA supported by World Health Organization (WHO).
Also the 21 primary healthcare centers across Onitsha North participated through the officers incharge and also Federal Medical Center, Onitsha had its representative for the training.
The Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon Nweze Tony Nwora ably represented by Hon Chike Nwanosike Supervisory Councillor for Health urged the participants to make good use of information gathered in the training to enable them provide more essential services to the people.
Reminded them that ensuring a disease free society is possible in Onitsha North LGA when they keep to the teachings of the training.
Idah Georgina, the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer (DSNO) lectured the participants.
Mrs Elizabeth Ezedinachi, HOD of Health, Onitsha North LGA was present at the training programme.
