The Nigerian Army has announced its first ever Professor among serving personnel
Lt. Col. Abubakar-Surajo Imam was promoted to the position of Professor of Mechatronics Engineering at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.
This marks the first time in the history of the Nigerian Army that a serving personnel has been appointed as a professor.
The announcement of Imam’s promotion was made by Brig.-Gen. AM Tukur, the Registrar of the Academy.
The decision was ratified during the NDA Council Meeting in September and came into effect on October 1, 2023.
The registrar said that the council’s decision was a reflection of the confidence and recognition of the contributions of Imam to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of the Academy.
“This recognition not only honours Professor Imam but also highlights the commitment of the Nigerian Defence Academy to acknowledging and rewarding outstanding contributions within its academic community,” he added.
