Imo Govt’ Replaces NURTW Chairman, Appoints Jeff Eze As Successor

The Imo State Government has officially relieved Chief Sam Udeh of his position as Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and appointed Hon. Jeff Eze as his replacement.

This decision was conveyed in a letter dated February 5, 2025, signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Emeka Okoronkwo. The directive, issued under the authority of Governor Hope Uzodimma, mandates Chief Udeh to hand over all union assets to the newly appointed chairman, Hon. Jeff Eze, with immediate effect.

According to the state government, the leadership transition is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the transport sector. Commissioner Okoronkwo expressed gratitude to Chief Udeh for his service and wished him success in future endeavors. He also voiced confidence in Hon. Jeff Eze’s ability to steer the union toward progressive reforms.

The appointment of Hon. Jeff Eze signals a new phase in the state’s transport sector under Governor Uzodimma’s administration, aligning with ongoing efforts to enhance leadership and operational standards within the union.
