TikTok Restores Service’s In United State’s After Temporary Shutdown

Sharing is caring

TikTok is back up and running in the United States after a brief 12-hour shutdown. The app’s restoration is attributed to President-elect Donald Trump’s efforts, with TikTok thanking him for providing clarity and assurance to their service providers ¹.

The shutdown occurred late Saturday night, with users receiving a message stating that a law banning TikTok had been enacted and that they couldn’t use the app for the time being. However, early Sunday, Trump announced plans to issue an executive order delaying enforcement of the divest-or-ban law, and access to TikTok’s app and webpage began to return for US users.

This move is seen as a major win for Trump, who may claim responsibility for bringing back the popular platform. TikTok CEO Shou Chew is even expected to attend Trump’s “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” and will be seated prominently at the incoming president’s inauguration.

With over 170 million American users relying on TikTok for news, entertainment, and community, this restoration is welcome news. The app’s return also highlights the importance of finding a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States, with TikTok committing to work with Trump on this issue.
