Primate Ndukuba Opens UNINIGER Permanent Site, Umunya

The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba has formally opened University On The Niger Permanent Site, Umunya and commissioned some completed projects in the University, established by the Diocese On The Niger.

The projects commissioned by the Primate assisted by Archbishops and Bishops of Church of Nigeria include internal roads within the University, students’ hostel, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, University Administrative block, among others.

Primate Ndukuba, in a sermon during the service, said that Diocese on the Niger has continued to build on the legacies of the church fathers, advancing knowledge and equipping young people for the service of God and humanity, appreciating the Anglican faithful and everyone who contributed to making the University a reality.

In a welcome address, the Chancellor of the University, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo said that the University is the outcome of many years of labour and ceaseless pursuit of a noble vision impressed upon their hearts for the educational development of the society and acknowledged the contributions of the Women’s Ministry, Knights of St. Christopher, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Senator Tony Nwoye, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, among others.

The Vice Chancellor of UNINIGER, Professor Chinedu Nebo said the Diocese received Federal Government’s licence to float the University in June 2023 with the vision to be a leading institution in the achievement of excellence in knowledge dissemination, character building and leadership for the production of entrepreneurial and globally competitive graduates for national development.

The event was attended by former Governor Peter Obi, Senators Tony Nwoye and Victor Umeh, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, a former Health Minister, Dr.Tim Menakaya, among others.
