The community of Adazi Ani gathered in solemn reverence to witness the final rites and Ofala ceremony of His Royal Highness, R. N. Nwankwo (Igwe Ogene), marking a momentous farewell in his ancestral homeland. The prestigious ceremony drew notable personalities including His Excellency Mr. Mr. Peter Obi, APGA National Chairman Bar. Ezeokenwa Sly Jr Chief Sir Ikenna Okafor(Ide Akwaeze), Distinguished Senator. Tony Nwoye, Hon Dozie Nwankwo, Hon. Obidike Afam Ben Commissioner for Health Anambra State, Hon Romanus Ibekwe Mayor Anaocha, among several others.

During the last Ofala of Igwe Ogene, Igwe Ichida Charles Ezeudeogu accompanied by Igwe C.C Agbala(Igwe Uke) and Igwe Atani unveiled the status of Igwe Ogene, while stating the remarkable role as a guardian of Adazi Ani’s cultural heritage. His legacy attracted several traditional rulers in Anaocha and Anambra state, the Anaocha traditional Rulers led by Igwe Christopher Okpala and Igwe Damian Ezeani who also led the Anambra traditional rulers to bid farewell to Igwe Ogene. Highlighting the late monarch’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and fostering unity within and beyond the community’s borders. “In Igwe Ogene, we witnessed a true embodiment of courage and cultural stewardship,” Ndi Ezeani Adazi-ani Chief A.E Okeke (Regent), Chief Chinedu Madubuko (Ezeani Chinechendo), Chief Ik kilo Ebeledike (Ezeani Chinenyeaku), Chief Bert Igwilo SAN (Ezeani Ikpeoma), Chief Sir. Cyril Okoye (Ezeani Adazie) Chief Uchenna Muokwelu (Ezeani Igiligi) etc, noting that his influence would continue to resonate through future generations.

The people of Adazi Ani, while mourning their beloved leader, celebrated the extraordinary life of a monarch who championed unity, preserved tradition, and drove community development. The impact of Igwe Ogene’s leadership will forever remain a cherished part of Adazi Ani and Anambra state’s history.

Adding to the final Ofala/burial ceremony of late Igwe Ogene, a lot of cultural dances, masquerade and many groups paid homage to the Palace such as the peoples club of Nigeria, onitsha recreation club etc, graced the occasion.
