The Honourable Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, through his Food Bank Initiative, has distributed rice, tomato paste, and other food condiments to 2,500 households comprising the elderly, widows, and people living with disabilities in Idemili.
It can be recalled that the Food Bank Initiative was launched in May 2024 by Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo with the sole aim of providing a monthly supply of essential food items to vulnerable households. This innovative program is part of comprehensive efforts to alleviate the adverse effects of fuel subsidy removal and to bring relief and hope to those struggling to make ends meet.
The December edition of the food distribution took a new shape as Hon. Okonkwo, through his constituency aides, delivered the food items to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries.
Hon. Okonkwo, in a chat with his media team, stated: “It’s important for us to deliver the food items in a door-to-door manner and reach the entire 17 towns of Idemili North and South. Those who are close to the constituency office can also come and pick up the items. I believe with this approach, we will save transportation costs for our people,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, 2,500 households in Idemili North and South have received the food items.
