The National Chairman of APGA, Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, spread joy and cheers among elderly priests of Awka and Ekwulobia diocese.
In a special holy Mass held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, Awka, officiated by His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Ebere Okpalaeke and Most Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor.
In his inspiring homily, Bishop Ezeokafor emphasized the significance of preparing our hearts to welcome Jesus Christ during Christmas. He reminded Christians that Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice, and kindness, particularly towards those who may not repay us in material ways.
Bishop Ezeokafor’s message highlights the importance of inner reflection and preparation during the Christmas season. As Christians, we are called to emulate the values of love, compassion, and selflessness that Jesus embodied.
The bishop’s words also underscore the value of showing kindness and generosity to those around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable. By doing so, we not only honour the spirit of Christmas but also demonstrate our commitment to living out our faith in practical ways.
In his appreciation message, the priest in charge of the elderly priests Rev Father expressed gratitude to Barr Ezeokenwa for his continued support and kindness towards the elderly priests which he has taken as his own constituents.
Speaking to the press during the event, the National Chairman noted that apart from his own personal convictions as a true Christian, looking after the elderly and downtrodden is part of APGA mantra of leaving no one behind which his adminstration emphasizes.
The event featured a heartwarming celebration of Christmas songs, cutting of cake, and other entertainments at the elderly priests’ residence.
