Aba North LGA, Abia State In a move to strengthen collaboration and improve service delivery, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aba Division, led by Deputy Corps Commander (DCC) Pac Ekwulonu, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, at the council headquarters in Aba.

DCC Ekwulonu congratulated Hon. Iheke on his recent election victory, expressing the FRSC’s commitment to working closely with his administration to enhance road safety and licensing services within Aba North.

During the meeting, she highlighted a significant challenge faced by the corps: the lack of a proper office space within the council, which has hindered the establishment of a licensing office in the area. This gap, according to Ekwulonu, has persisted due to negligence by previous administrations.

Responding to her concerns, Hon. Iheke showed keen interest in resolving the issue. He inquired about the absence of a licensing office in Aba North and emphasized the economic implications of this lapse.

“It is wrong for me as the chairman to renew my vehicle license in another local government area while we lack such facilities here,” Iheke remarked.

Hon. Iheke assured the FRSC of his administration’s dedication to providing a functional office space. He described the establishment of a licensing office as a critical step not only for improving the corps’ operations but also for generating significant revenue for the council.

“We will ensure this issue is addressed promptly to benefit our residents and boost the council’s revenue,” he affirmed.

In a separate but equally significant event, the outgoing Commander of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for Aba North visited Hon. Iheke to formally introduce his successor, Commander Obi Chinweizu.

Hon. Iheke welcomed the new commander and assured him of the council’s cooperation in fostering security and community development within Aba North.

He also commended the outgoing commander for his service and contributions to the local government.

These visits underscore the growing synergy between Aba North’s leadership and key agencies like the FRSC and Civil Defence.

Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke’s administration has demonstrated its resolve to tackle long-standing issues and foster collaborations that enhance governance and service delivery in Aba North.
