In a proactive move to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services under the state’s health insurance scheme, the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA), under the visionary leadership of its Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Uche Ewelike, conducted a capacity review meeting and training for staff on the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tool for the Q4 exercise.
The event, held earlier today, December 5, 2024, served as a preparatory step for the comprehensive Q4 M&E exercise scheduled to take place from December 10 to December 17, 2024. This exercise will span the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State.
The core objective of this review meeting and training is to equip IMSHIA staff with the necessary technical knowledge to effectively deploy the M&E tool. This tool is integral to assessing the quality of healthcare services rendered by healthcare providers participating in the state’s health insurance program.
The Q4 M&E exercise is in line with the administration of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, whose government remains committed to the 3R Mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery. By ensuring high standards in healthcare delivery, the program continues to prioritize the well-being of Ndi Imo.
During the session, emphasis were laid on the significance of robust monitoring and evaluation as a mechanism to enhance healthcare service delivery and accountability. It was noted that such initiatives underscore the agency’s dedication to driving continuous improvement in healthcare access and outcomes across the state.
The training also provided an avenue for staff to deliberate on past exercises, identify challenges, and propose actionable solutions to streamline the upcoming Q4 exercise.
As the December 10 commencement date approaches, IMSHIA assures stakeholders and beneficiaries of the state’s health insurance scheme that every effort is being made to deliver a seamless and impactful M&E exercise. This will not only reinforce trust in the system but also align with global best practices in health management.
The health insurance program, championed by Governor Uzodimma, seeks to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to all residents of Imo State. With continuous improvements through monitoring and evaluation, the scheme remains a cornerstone of the state’s efforts to achieve universal health coverage.
