The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), will confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Management on the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, during its convocation ceremony on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The announcement was made in a letter addressed to the Governor by FUTO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Otti. According to Prof. Otti, the university’s Council ratified the Senate’s recommendation to award Governor Uzodimma the honorary degree, citing his remarkable contributions to the state and society at large.
In the letter, Prof. Otti commended Uzodimma’s “decades of meritorious, selfless, and outstanding service that have positively impacted the lives of the good people of Imo State, the nation, and humanity as a whole.”
Reacting to the honor, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, lauded the recognition as a well-deserved accolade for the Governor. He described it as a testament to Uzodimma’s exceptional leadership and developmental strides in Imo State and Nigeria.
Emelumba further praised FUTO’s Vice Chancellor and Senate for their unbiased evaluation of the Governor’s contributions, emphasizing that the Imo State Government remains committed to addressing the needs of its citizens.
