Anaocha Holds Security Summit, As Hon. Ibekwe Calls For Collaboration And Partnership In The Fight Against Crime And Insecurity

The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe has called for collaboration and partnership, in combating crime and insecurity in Anaocha and environs.

Speaking during the Security Summit organised in Anaocha Local Government on the 11th of November, 2024, the Mayor called for tightened security architecture in order to succeed in the fight against insecurity and crime.

He commended the security outfits (police, vigilantes) for their efforts, so far, while encouraging them to double their efforts, especially as the yuletide season draws near. He noted that he would not want to hear any negative news about Anaocha having security related issues and hence, all hands must be on deck, to mitigate insecurity.

Also speaking at the well-attended security event, ACP Albert Dike, the Aguata Area Commander of the Nigerian Police Force (Anambra State), for which, Anaocha is part, apologized for the absence of the CP in Anambra, who was on a working visit to Abuja.

He noted that security is an important part of any societal structure and for that, must be taken seriously, while promising that the collaborations will be upheld to help deal with insecurity, in order to ensure a livable and prosperous Anaocha.

The event, which was well-attended, shows that the present dispensation in Anaocha under the auspices of Hon. Rome Ibekwe means business in all facets, including security.

Speaking further, the Mayor of Anaocha, Hon. Ibekwe, notified the gathering that at the just concluded Iri-Ji Festival in Anambra State, held in Awka, Anaocha took first position and that one Mr. Chinedu Anene, from Akwaeze, emerged winner, for which he was given the sum of 3 Million Naira, alongside the motorcycle with carriage, donated by other agencies, to support his agricultural activities.

He also commended the Governor for the award of roads: the one that passed through Ekwulobia and Nanka to Agulu up to Amawbia and the Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi road, which will be dualised with street lights, all through.

He noted that there are other projects on ground, such as the Agulu lake tourism project, which will make Anaocha and Anambra, a tourism destination in the nearest future and that once, completed, will catapult Anaocha and Anambra in infrastructural rating.

Again, he reminded everyone at the event that the Anaocha Mass Transit will commence soon, including the proposed ultra-modern international market, to be sited at the Okacha-Umunri axis of Neni. He also talked about the newly built St. Cletus Hospital, that has all the modern equipment for proper health care and service delivery.

He also emphasized on Aku-luo-uno Philosophy, while also thanking Chief Benson Chinedu Madubuko (Ezeani Chinechendo, Adazi-ani), for his philantropic gesture, that empowered more than 50 persons, which he sees as a practical way of empowerment and combating crime, while reducing unemployment and indolence. Hence, for him, these projects will be well-harnessed with a strong security framework in the LGA.

He thanked Gov. Soludo, for his empathy towards Anaocha and assured him of Anaocha’s continuous support of his administration, while asking everyone to get onboard, as APGA remains the vehicular path to sustained progress and development in Anambra State.

Onyebuchi Okpara (Former SSA to Gov. Soludo); Mr. Afamefuna Oliver (PG-Agulu); Engr. C.Y. Anetoh (PG-Adazi-Nnukwu); Chief Christian Ikebudu (Nnalue, PG-Neni); Mr. Echendu Kenneth (PG-Obeledu); Hon. Osita Ozalagba; Mr. Ikechukwu Nwake (S.I.D. Anaocha); Hon. Emordi Ojimmadu (APGA Youth Leader Anaocha); Mrs. Ijeoma Sunny Egbuna (Ijesunny, APGA women leader Anaocha); DPO, Anaocha, Deputy Mayor, Anaocha—Bar. Peter Emeneh; Chief Anthony Ugorji (Anaocha APGA party Chairman), among others.

It was an eventful and colourful day, as the vision for a secure and greater Anaocha, becomes solidified.
