The Commissioner of Police in Imo State recently visited the scene of a bomb explosion at the International Market in Orlu Local Government Area, where two lives were tragically lost.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Henry Okoye confirmed the Commissioner’s commitment to uncovering the full details behind the incident. The explosion, which occurred around 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, claimed the lives of two young men, suspected to be the masterminds behind the blast.

According to ASP Okoye, the suspects appear to have perished while attempting to execute the act, which backfired on them. Additionally, two bystanders were injured in the explosion and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Further investigations suggest a potential link between the deceased suspects and previous explosive incidents in Omuma and Orlu communities on November 3, 2024, where two other individuals sustained injuries. The police are actively investigating to confirm the suspects’ involvement in these earlier attacks.
