Peter Obi Reacts As First-ever Igbo Muslim Appointed Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has congratulated Professor Iliyasu Usman on his historic appointment as the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja.

Usman’s appointment marks a significant moment as he becomes the first Igbo Muslim to hold this prestigious position.

In a statement released on Friday, Obi extended his best wishes to the new Imam, emphasizing the importance of his role in fostering peace and unity within the country. Obi acknowledged the leadership and wisdom of Usman and prayed that his tenure would further promote spirituality and harmony in Nigeria.

The Labour Party candidate expressed his confidence in Usman’s ability to lead and called on Allah to grant him the wisdom and strength necessary for his new spiritual duties.
