The political wing of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) Anambra Chapter, held its inaugural meeting at the Grand East Hotel in Okpuno, Awka South LG, Anambra State. The event brought together members from across the state to discuss critical issues of good governance and democracy in Anambra.
Mr Valentine Ozigbo was a guest at the gathering, emphasizing the urgent need for Ndi Anambra to unite and hold their leaders accountable. Ozigbo highlighted the current administration’s shortcomings in key areas such as security, healthcare, education, and global connectivity.
“The time has come for a complete overhaul of leadership if necessary,” Ozigbo stated. He advocated purposeful politics over transactional politics and commended COPDEM members for their commitment to restoring democracy and good governance in Anambra State.
Ozigbo stressed that the vision of good governance for Anambra superseded personal interests, biases, or affiliations and urged attendees to return to their communities and mobilize more citizens to join the fight for better leadership.
The meeting included a robust question and answer session, where members discussed areas lacking in good governance within the state.
Among other things, COPDEM worldwide views women as agents of change and has a great number of women as political drivers on all fronts.

COPDEM reaffirmed its commitment to fostering purposeful democracy and good governance in Anambra State, stating its determination to fight against vote buying, voter apathy, and the emergence of poor-quality political leaders through massive mobilization across the state.
The organization plans to continue its efforts in educating and mobilizing citizens to actively participate in the political process and demand accountability from their leaders.
