The newly elected chairmen and counselors in Anambra State have been charged to ensure they deliver democracy dividends to the grassroots.
The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo gave the charge during this year’s Independent celebration held at Ekwueme Square in Awka the state capital.
The Governor reminded Ndi Anambra that he has fulfilled one of his major promises which is conducting free, fair and transparent local Government Elections in the state.
He thanked Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for the job well done and stated that though the law stipulated thirty days for the conduct of the elections but that notice for the elections was given forty eight days before the elections.
“While describing the elections as a referendum for his administration, he promised to continue to work towards maintaining the trust of Ndi Anambra and echoed the fact that Anambra State is APGA as confirmed with the last Saturdays local Government Elections in the state.
Governor Soludo further promised to continue to deliver democracy dividends at the state level since local Government Elections are over.
The Governor encouraged Nigerians to have confident in Nigeria saying that despite the challenges faced the nation’s tomorrow will be greater than today.
He then wished the nation peace, prosperity and joy and prayed that the labour of the nation’s founding fathers would never be in vain.
Governor Soludo however sympathized with the victims from the seven states in the country that were ravaged by flood and prayed that it does not affect Anambra State.
