….Empowers More Traders Under 1000 Petty Traders Grant
Distinguished Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi has commended Imo State Governor Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, for reviving and recapitalizing Imo Micro Finance Bank. He gave the commendation during visits to Ekeukwu Owerri and Afor Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area, to empower more petty traders under his 1000 petty traders grant scheme.
The Senator stated that the governor by that action laid the foundation for Small and Medium Enterprises growth in the state,as small businesses can now obtain loans at very low interest rates. He further lauded him for putting a competent managing director Mrs Blessing Nwoba in charge of the bank.
On the petty trader grant the lawmaker disclosed that he initiated it to help small businesses survive the prevailing harsh economic realities. He urged beneficiaries to put the grant to good use. A total of 1000 petty traders out of which traders from the over twelve markets captured so far have received their 100,000, would benefit from the financial grant.
Also, speaking at the event, Chief Justus Ogu State APC Vice Chairman and Owerri Zonal Chairman, applauded the lawmaker for his exhibition of true spirit of representation, by personally visiting the markets to interact with traders,and also addressing the exact the problems being faced by his constituents, as shown by the financial support to small traders.
The leaders of Ekeukwu and Afor Irete Markets expressed great delight over the gesture of Distinguished Senator Onyewuchi, saying it’s the first of its kind in their markets’ history. They assured of the judicious use of the grant to enhance their businesses.
