…Thanks Civil, Public Servants For Support, Solidarity.
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has urged civil and public servants in the state to vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, stating that the opposition party’s candidate lacks the ideas and capacity to sustain the reforms and developmental strides in the state’s public service.
He gave the admonition on Tuesday September 17, 2024, during a ’thank you’ engagement with civil and public servants in the state, wherein he highlighted the gains of his administration in civil and public service, while appreciating the workers for their support and solidarity in the past 8 years.
According to Obaseki, “I came to appreciate and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would not have achieved what we achieved without you. I am finishing the first part but the journey must not stop; it must continue; the engine of development must continue to run.
“The rate at which we need to run will be very high when we make the right decision. We can’t afford any mistakes come Saturday. Those who want to take over power by all means are uneducated and have never worked in any better place.
“My message to you is that, it is a risk we can’t afford. It is not about Obaseki but democracy and development. The risk is about allowing people without the knowledge of what to do, to lead; people who can’t even articulate their ideas, people who can’t read a balance sheet.”
On his part, the PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, applauded the Governor’s developmental strides in the civil and public service, pledging to build on the already laid foundation.
He said: “Edo State Civil and Public Service is number one in Nigeria. Obaseki has done well, and I will continue from where Obaseki stops. You all here will be my priority. We will function together and continue to make Edo State a progressive state. This shall be our focus.”
