BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Anambra Community Leader Hours After Soludo Appointed His Town Member As Commissioner

Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have reportedly kidnapped High Chief Ezebinobi Chimame Ezigbo, the President General of Abatete Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The abduction occurred on Tuesday, just few hours after an indigene of the community, Dr. Law Mefor, was appointed and sworn-in as the state’s new Commissioner for Information.

According to a source from the community, the PG was unknowingly trailed to his house by his abductors who followed him with their own vehicle when he was returning to his house from a destination, at about 6:37pm on Tuesday, September 17.

The source further revealed that the kidnappers eventually jumped out of their vehicle and surrendered him when he got to his house, and drove him off, together with his vehicle and their own.

It was, however, gathered that the PG’s vehicle crashed into gutter when the kidnapers were speeding off with him, which made them to abandon the vehicle there, immediately transfer him into their own vehicle, and zoom off.

As at the time of filing this report, no official contact was said to have been made with the victim’s family by his abductors, while his whereabouts still remain unknown.

When contacted by this reporter, Izunna Okafor; the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said there was no such information before him.
