A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a suit filed against the #Endbadgovernance protesters, the Attorney General of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services, and the Chiefs of Army and Defence Staff.
The suit, instituted by 17 Nigerians, was dismissed due to lack of diligent prosecution.
Justice Peter Lifu terminated the suit on Thursday, citing the absence of both the plaintiffs and defendants in court, as well as the lack of legal representation from both parties.
Despite the scheduled hearing, none of the 17 plaintiffs appeared, nor were they represented by a legal practitioner.
The plaintiffs, representing the six geopolitical zones, had sought a court order to end the protests, claiming that their fundamental rights were being breached.
They requested that the court compel the security agencies and the AGF to enforce their rights by bringing the protesters to order.
However, the court’s dismissal of the suit brings an end to the legal challenge against the protesters.
