The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna has partnered with Jhpiego, a reputable global health development entity that creates innovative solutions to quality healthcare for people around the world, to provide accessible healthcare for all Ebonyians.
Governor Nwifuru had warm deliberations with Jhpiego led by their Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Leslie Manusco. The healthcare entity’s primary focus is to partner with the state government to give Ebonyians paramount access to better healthcare services, as enshrined in the people’s charter of need.
During the deliberations which took place on November 7, the Governor noted that he dedicated the concluding bullet points of his manifesto under the health sector to his support for Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme.
When speaking to the press, the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Hon Leo Ekene Oketa, noted that the Governor has taken a huge step in bringing the outcome of the deliberations to reality by undertaking to make available, 5% monthly contributions for all civil servants to enroll in the State Health Insurance Scheme, starting from January 2024.
The Governor will also provide the sum of 250 million naira annually for the informal sector to take part in the scheme.
