The Kano State Hisbah Board has said that its operatives intercepted a vehicle carrying over 24,000 bottles of beer in the state. The Islamic police said the beer was intercepted on BUK Road, near the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies.

The board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujaheed Aminudden, who made this known to journalists, said that the truck was seized on Monday afternoon.
Mujaheed explained that the laws governing the Kano State Hisbah Board prohibit the sale and consumption of beer and other intoxicants within the state.

He also mentioned that the agency has ramped up its campaign and advocacy efforts to educate the public on the dangers of engaging in immoral activities.
He praised the KAROTA personnel for their role in stopping the truck before it reached its destination in the city.

The board, he added, is committed to intensifying its efforts to prevent the smuggling of beer into the state.

“The driver abandoned the vehicle, and we had to use a tow truck to bring it to our headquarters,” Dr. Mujaheed said.

He also urged residents to report any vehicle suspected of carrying prohibited items to the board.
