Following the rise in indiscriminate killings in Kogi state, members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Tuesday stormed the Police headquarters in Abuja protesting the killing of three policemen and some members of the party at Anyigba, Kogi State.
The protesters who were led by the Governorship candidate of the party in the November 11 election, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, led the protest called for the removal and prosecution of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, who they say have been compromised
According to reports, trouble started when some thugs allegedly operating in the guise of state joint taskforce attacked the residence of the Campaign Director General of SDP, Sheikh Ibrahim, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Three policemen were killed during the incident, while six supporters of the SDP were abducted.
SDP governorship candidate, Ajaka, the Campaign Director General, Col. Suleiman Babanawa (retd), and a former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, presented their demands to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
