Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 to state and local government workers, effective August and September 2024, respectively.
This was announced by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, after a meeting with the Governor.
The implementation will follow the 2019 consequential adjustment table, pending the release of the new table from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.
This means that the percentage increase will be applied to the current salary of each worker, based on the previous minimum wage of N32,000.
Comrade Fashe praised Governor Fintiri’s commitment to workers’ welfare, highlighting that the implementation of the new minimum wage is a testament to his dedication to improving the lives of Adamawa State workers.
The move is expected to boost the morale and standard of living of workers in the state.
