The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly burying a 20-year-old man alive in Zaria.
The suspects, who are siblings, were identified after a viral video showed the victim buried with only his head exposed.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson, the suspects and victim worked together at a construction site in Abuja.
The suspects accused the victim of stealing a phone valued at N35,000 and decided to punish him by burying him alive.
On August 10, the suspects trailed the victim to Zaria, bound his hands and feet, and buried him in a shallow grave, leaving only his head exposed.
The victim was rescued after a passerby heard his groans and alerted the public.
The suspects have admitted to the crime during interrogation and will face professional investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali, has warned the public against taking the law into their own hands.
