The Coalition of Rivers State Leaders has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing political dispute between Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, warning that the situation could escalate into severe conflict if left unchecked.
The coalition, led by Chief Sunnie Chukumele, criticized the federal government for neglecting the situation and accused Wike’s allies of attempting to destabilize the government.
They specifically condemned recent utterances by Tony Okocha, accusing Governor Fubara of sponsoring protests, and warned against inflammatory statements.
The coalition also criticized the Assembly faction led by Martins Amaewhule for attempting to block state funds through the court, warning of potential crisis.
Additionally, they denounced former Local Government Chairmen who have refused to step down despite the expiration of their terms.
The coalition’s briefing emphasized the need for President Tinubu’s intervention to protect the state and prevent further escalation of tensions.
