Sacked Rivers APC Caretaker Committee Vows To Appeal Judgment

The Caretaker Committee of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its intention to appeal the state High Court’s decision to nullify its appointment.

The committee’s chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, made this statement in response to the court’s ruling on Monday, which reinstated the Chief Emeka Beke-led elected executives of the party in the state.

Okocha expressed his disappointment with the judgment, citing concerns about the judge’s impartiality. He alleged that the judge, Justice Sika Aprioku, had acknowledged a petition filed by the committee raising concerns about his bias, but failed to recuse himself from the case.

Okocha stated that the committee would challenge the decision at the Court of Appeal and, if necessary, take the case to the Supreme Court to ensure justice is served.

He emphasized that the committee is prepared to pursue all available legal avenues to contest the ruling.

The court’s decision had nullified the appointment of the caretaker committee by the national leadership of the APC, sparking a legal dispute within the party’s Rivers State chapter.
